at home.

I am back home.

Photobucket

Where May means daffodils and bluebells.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I miss this soft grass.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I miss dandelions.

Photobucket

And spring that feels like a new beginning rather than a slight shift in constant.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

We've seen old friends.

Photobucket

And slept five to a bed last night, with bodies of cousins overlapped like a nice lattice crust.

My heart is full. This house is full of cousins and aunts and my grandma who made us promise when she went to bed last night that we wouldn't have any fun because she didn't want to miss it.

My mama's getting married today. It's a good day.

More to come from the Great Lake State.

Congrats to your mom and her new love! I hope they are happy for many, many years to come. Growing up in IL and then moving to Seattle leave me missing those wonderful fringe seasons. A slight change in the constant...beautiful way to write that.

o, i'm having a sympathetic reaction to the barefeet on that velvet grass. has my toes scrunching and stretching for bendy blades of glorious green.

you and your babes are natural beauties who appear at ease no matter where you wonder. New York, Montana, Michigan, Utah. Florida might be where the roots are widening deep, but clearly home is well within the soul of your collective togetherness.

Mother's Day weekend seems an appropriate time for your mama to begin a new chapter in her journey. may it be a divine day for all.

big love.

Going "home" is bittersweet, isn't it?
I recently returned home to Colorado with my kiddos.
There was so much from my childhood (really, the first 30 years of my life) that I wanted to share with them, but I also know that they will never feel the same about these places and people as I do.
In the end, returning to OUR home in Oregon felt wonderful. It was fun to share Colorado with my kiddos, but home is Oregon for me!
Congratulations to your Mama!

Mandy said...

Having been born in Michigan and relocated to Florida, I understand how you feel going home. I laughed out loud when I read, "I miss this soft grass" because I get it! My first trip back home (after moving) was in the fall and I craved the smell of cider mills, frying donuts, and the beautiful colors of falling leaves. It was a painful adjustment that first fall. ...but we have adjusted beautifully.

I live in Michigan and couldn't help but think of your family yesterday. I've become so addicted to your pictures and your words I actually looked outside and said "oh, good, it's a gorgeous day for Kelle's mom's wedding."

I hope she had an amazing wedding. :)

Hi there! I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your blog, but I did and I'm so thankful. I settled in on a rainy day and started going backwards. 2.5 hours later, I realized I needed dinner! :)

Bluebells! Love them! I'm from England and they are my fave! I live in Texas now and we have Bluebonnets here and whilst pretty, they are just not the same. Hope you've had a fabulous weekend. Looking forward to the tales :)

Thank you for sharing your gift of capturing memories with us! Looking at your photos inspires me to try to capture more memories with my family and to remind my husband and older kids to snap pictures of me once in awhile, too. Love, love, love the picture of you nursing Nella. It brings back fond memories of me nursing my kids.

Are your girls always dressed like that? Or is it a photo shoot thing?

I am so thankful you came this weekend, because I'm certain you brought the Sunshine to us here in MI. What a beautiful Mother's Day and a beautiful weekend for your mom's wedding. She looks absolutely stunning. And the pic of Nella by the brick wall - LOVE it! How sweet that you had 4 generations to attend the beautiful ceremony. Such a rare occasion!
